Born in Brookline, and after marrying the love of his life they lived in Norwood for many years. He then moved to Marshfield where he resided for years before moving to Raynham where they have lived for the past eight years.
In 1965, he responded to the call of his country and joined the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He served as a Mortar Crewman and was the recipient of the Vietnamese Service Medal, the Vietnamese Campaign Medal.
Bill began a career with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority in his early years as an Operator and then moved to the Maintenance Division until his retirement.
Bill enjoyed coin collecting and poking around yard sales as one of his spare time enjoyments.
He was the son of the late William & Anne M. ( Walls ) Cross, and stepson of the late Norman Cross. brother of the late Bruce Marcus.
He is survived by his devoted & loving wife Mary Beth ( Walsh ) Walls, his children Beth J. Walls of Brewster, David A. Walls and his wife Heather of Marshfield & Arthur W. Walls of West Roxbury, his sister Mrs Lawrence ( Gale Ann ) Johnson of Englewood, Fla., his grandchildren David A. Walls & Michaela Paige and a nephew Richard Johnson of Dover, N.H. his loved sisters-in laws Mrs Patricia Burgoyne and her late husband Joseph L. Burgoyne III, of Waltham, Linda Browne and her husband Daniel of Billerica, James P. Walsh & his wife Ann of West Roxbury and many nieces and nephews & cousins.
Funeral services in celebration of Bill's life were held in Raynham. Interment with United States Marines Corps Military Honors followed at the Veterans Administration Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
The Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, Waltham, Ma has assisted Bill’s family with arrangements.
