Obituary for Anna M. Hull

Ann M. (Romano) Hull

Of Waltham, passed away peacefully early Friday morning, May 11th, 2023, in the comfort and care of the staff at Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln. She was 97.

Born on January 11, 1926 in Somerville, Ann came to Waltham in 1949 and was a resident there for the past 73 years.

An honors graduate of Somerville High School; Ann worked as an administrative secretary for the Beaverbrook Guidance Center from 1975 to 1981. She started her own business in 1981, performing typing services and transcription for clients that included lawyers, psychologists, engineers, and graduate students. In 1985 she started working for Minuteman Home Care in Burlington as an Information and Referral Specialist as well as an office assistant. It was there that she made many lifelong friends. Her proudest accomplishment by far was as a homemaker to her husband Benny and children Judie and Skipper.

Ann loved going to the beach, swimming and taking car and boat rides. She enjoyed playing cards especially bridge and would play bridge on her computer when she wasn't playing in bridge clubs. She was a fabulous Italian cook, prided herself in her gardening and, of course, wouldn't miss Friday night bingo at Our Lady’s Church. She was always taking care of things around the house including painting the whole exterior of her house, even in her 90's. Ann and Benny loved to travel and Ann would often tell stories of the many adventures she and Benny had traveling the US and the world!

Living right on Hardy Pond in Waltham, Ann was recognized by the Mayor G. Chauncey Cousens and City of Waltham for her heroic actions on January 1951, jumping into the freezing waters of the pond to save a 2-year-old neighborhood boy from drowning after he fell through the ice.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Louis Hull Jr. in 1999.

Ann is survived by her devoted & loving children: Kenneth R. "Skipper" Hull and his wife, Valerie, of Lincoln; Judie Hull-Maker and her husband, Robert Maker, of Billerica; her nieces and nephew, Michael and Nina Romano; and Diane Ferguson.

Dear sister of the late Alexander "Sonny" Romano, Ralph Romano, and Joseph Romano.

Family and friends are welcome to gather and celebrate Ann's life and remember the love and friendship she shared with others at a Funeral Service in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Tuesday, May 16th, at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham.
