Maria 'Mary" A. (Giunta) Mingace

Of Belmont, formerly of Waltham, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning November 13th, 2019 at Care One of Lexington at the age of 81.

She was the beloved wife of the late Wiliam J. Mingace. Loving mother of Wiliam J. Mingace of Malden and Michelle Lee Marie Mingace-Fischer of Hopkinton; cherished grandmother of Tina Maria Mingace of Plymouth; Kaitlyn Fischer of FL; and Christopher Fischer Jr. of Hopkinton; adoring great grandmother of Bodin and Parker; and dear sister of Paul Giunta of Marlborough. In addition she was aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Born in Waltham, she was the daughter of the late Gaetano and Maria (Crescenzo) ( Papia) Giunta and the sister of the late Biaggio Papia and Stephen Papia.

Mary was very active at Whittemore School, Waltham Arts and Crafts teacher. Helped with the installation of the "PEP" (Personal Education Program), assisted as teacher's aide for special needs students; for seven years helped to raise money to support "patrol kids" trip to Washington, DC, ran a dinner/dance called "Fun Night" as a fundraiser for school scholarships; served at PTA president; for 14 years helped with many school activities.

Mrs. Mingace worked at Grover Cronin in Waltham for many years. Also worked at Polaroid, MIT Lincoln Labs and GTE as an assistant to vice president. She retired in 2000 to take care of her late husband; William J. Mingace.

She worked with the Waltham Police Dept; on safety affairs twice a year for six years at locations on the Waltham Common and the American Legion Hall.

Mrs. Mingace taught CCD (First Communion class) at Sacred Heart Church for six years. She was very active in fundraising for the church. She helped run Bingo, the Italian Festa, the Clambake, flea markets,Christmas Bazaar and many other fundraisers. She also held the office of president as a member of the Holy Rosary Guild.

For many years she worked tirelessly on preparing costumes for the annual recitals for the Peggy McGlone Dance Studio and performed on stage with her children.

In recent years Mary was active at the Beech Street Belmont Senior Center; a member of the Council on Aging, and participated by organizing numerous fund-raising events for the new center with craft shows, created a bocce tournament and other social activities.

Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services in celebration of Marie's Life from the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM, on Tuesday morning Nov. 19th at 10:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham. Visiting Hours will be held in the Funeral Home on Monday Nov. 18th from 3 - 7 p.m.
