Obituary for Shirley LaPorte (Coughlan)

Of Waltham, passed away peacefully Sunday evening September 22nd, 2019 at Saint Patrick's Manor in Framingham at the age of 88.

Born on April 21, 1931; daughter of the late Joseph and Ethel (Kelly) Coughlan, Shirley was a lifelong resident of Waltham.

A graduate of Saint Mary's High School with the Class of 1949, Shirley was employed as a Bookkeeper for many years.

Shirley devoted her time to her family especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a strong faith in her God and was a devoted parishioner of Saint Mary's Parish Community in Waltham. She was active with the Council on Aging and with both the Southside and North Waltham Senior Citizen groups. In her spare time she enjoyed reading.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Edmond "Putt" LaPorte; her loving daughters the late Deborah Ayochok and Sandra Quinn; and her cherished grandchildren Kelly and Matthew Bardsley.

Shirley is survived by her devoted & loving children; Lorinda Bardsley of Holliston and Martin LaPorte of Acton; her siblings Maureen Perilli of Waltham and Joseph Coughlan of Pelham, NH; and her cherished grandchildren Michelle, Wendy, Jason, Carlie, Meagen, Reneee, Robin and Rachel. In addition she is survived by 9 adoring great grandchildren.

Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services in celebration of Shirley’s Life from the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home, 773 Moody St, WALTHAM on Thursday morning Sept. 26th at 9:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Mary's Church, 145 School Street, Waltham at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham. Visiting Hours will be held in the Funeral Home on Wednesday Sept. 25th from 4 - 8p.m.
