Obituary for Charles J. "Charlie" Kaufman Jr.

Charles J. "Charlie" Kaufman Jr., passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday August 7th, 2019 at the age of 72.

Born on October 25, 1946 in Boston; son of the late Charles J. Kaufman Sr. and Elizabeth "Betty" (LaMachia) Kaufman, Charlie was raised in Waltham and lived for many years before moving to Maynard.

A graduate of Waltham Vocational High School with the Class of 1966; after graduation Charlie joined the United States Air Force and served proudly and honorably.

Charlie was employed as a Plumber throughout his life. He owned and operated C.J. Kaufman Plumbing & Heating for years before becoming the Plumbing Inspector for the City of Waltham.

He was a Life-Member of the Waltham Lodge of Elks B.P.O.E. #953. He was a longtime member and mentor to many with the Friends of Bill W. Charlie enjoyed playing sports especially Softball and had a passion for golf. He was the recipient of the The Francis Ouimet Scholarship. Through the years he coached many of his sons little league baseball teams.

Charlie loved every moment spent with family and friends especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his beloved wife Nancy (Caramanica) Kaufman, his devoted & loving sons Stephen E. Kaufman and his wife Carolyn Kaufman of North Oxford; and Scott Kaufman and his wife Erica Kaufman of Norwell; his cherished grandchildren Elin, Lucas, Emma, Hayden, and Ella Kaufman; and his dear siblings David Kaufman and his wife Diane of Waltham; Dorothy "Dotty" McGuire and her husband Tom of Waltham; James Kaufman and his wife Diane of West Boylston; Deborah Martin and her devoted companion Bruce of Wisconsin; William "Bill" and his wife Theresa "Terry" of Belmont; Kathleen Steigerwalt of RI;
and Janice Kusmirek and her husband Michael of Leominster. In addition he is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and close friends whom loved him dearly.

Dear brother of the late Margaret "Peggy" Roy, Patricia "Patty" Chiavaras, Stephen and Jackie Kaufman.

Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services in celebration of Charlie Life's from the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Tuesday morning August 13th at 9:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham at 10:30 a.m. Interment with United States Air Force Military Honors will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham. Visiting Hours will be held in the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home on Monday August 12th from 4 - 8 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
