Eleanor "Ellie" M. (Cain) McNamara
Mother, wife, sister, aunt and friend, Ellie McNamara passed away at 97 years of age in Hadley, Massachusetts on Monday July 15, 2019, surrounded by her family.
Ellie loved a good laugh and a good story. She was best known for her fabulous smile and contagious laugh.
Born on March 27, 1922 in Waltham, MA; daughter of the late Henry "Harry" and Florence Cain. Ellie graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Waltham. She worked for over 20 years as a volunteer and then as an employee at Campion Renewal Center in Weston, MA.
Ellie married Robert "Bob" McNamara, also of Waltham. They had 6 children. She loved being part of the McNamara clan and leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews on the McNamara side of the family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, who died in 1991 and her brother, John who died in 1985.
Ellie is survived by her children Robert "Bob" and wife Marianne McNamara of Burlington, VT; Mark McNamara and wife Jan (Stuart) of Montpelier, VT; Margaret "Meg" Gardner, Jane McNamara, and Anne McNamara, all of of Phoenix, AZ; and Mary McNamara and husband Wally Czajkowski of Hadley MA; seven grandchildren, Mariah, Matthew, TJ, Lauren, Nelly, Tony and Hock and six great grandchildren, Liam, Miles, Anson, Jonathan, Charlotte (Charlie), and Gardner. In addition she leaves behind a brother, Fr. Harry Cain SJ, Weston, MA and one niece, Cheryl Cain Hawkins-Parmenter of Franklin, MA.
Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services in celebration of Eleanor's Life from the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Friday morning July 19th at 9:00 with a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Julia's Church, 374 Boston Post Rd, Weston at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham. Visiting Hours will be held in the Funeral Home on Thursday July 18th from 4 - 7 p.m.
