Obituary for Sylvio Deveau

Sylvio S. Deveau

Of Waltham, passed away peacefully in his home with his loving wife by his side, Tuesday, July 9, 2019. He was 79.

Born and raised in Acadieville, New Brunswick, Canada, to the late Martial and Anna Deveau, he came to Waltham over 60 years ago, where he has been a resident ever since.

Mr. Deveau worked for Senior Metal Bellows for 43 years. In his younger days he worked for the railroad in New Brunswick.

Sylvio was very proud of his Canadian heritage. He owned a second home on the waterfront in Pointe-Sapin, New Brunswick where he enjoyed his culture with family and friends. He will always be remembered for his contagious laugh, that seemed endless at times. Sylvio was a sweet and gentle man, who quietly went out of his way to help others in need whenever possible. Sylvio was also a Eucharistic minister at St. Mary's Church, where he was a long-time parish member.

In his spare time, Sylvio enjoyed splitting wood, gardening, keeping bees, and playing cards.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Gisele (Savoie) of Waltham, his sons Guy “Gervais” Deveau and his wife Virgina “Jinny” (Stauf) of Bellingham and Bill Deveau and his wife Alisa (Padavano) of Worcester, his son-in-law James Denson of Plainville, his brother Harvey Deveau and his wife Gene of Moncton, NB, and his sisters Agnes Caissie and her husband Gerard of Westborough, and Laurise Allain and her husband Aderice of Moncton, NB, and his sisters-in-laws Ida Deveau of Minto, NB and Jackie Savoie of Waltham. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Elizabeth Denson, Monica Denson, Jonathan Denson, Andrew Denson, Matthew Denson, Julian Denson and Sebastien Deveau.

He was the beloved father of the late Carolanne Denson, uncle of the late Sarah Savoie, and brother of the late Leo Deveau.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend funeral services from the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons, Monday, July 15, 2019 at 9 am with a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Sylvio’s life at St. Mary’s Church, 145 School St., Waltham, at 10 am.
