Obituary for Sadie M. Cardillo (Alesse)

Of Waltham, passed away on Thursday July 4th, 2019 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital at the age of 94.

Born on April 1, 1925 in Waltham; daughter of the late Angelo and Antonina (Malone) Alesse, Sadie was a lifelong resident of Waltham.

Sadie met her husband Red after he returned home from the war on a blind date and they were married on June 13, 1948. That same year, Red bought his first bulldozer and started the Anthony Cardillo Bulldozer Service. A graduate of Waltham High School, Sadie worked alongside her late husband as a Bookkeeper in the family construction business "Anthony Cardillo & Sons".

Sadie’s life was centered around her family. When she wasn’t crocheting blankets for all of her great-grandchildren or watching Turner Classic Movies, you could find her in the kitchen cooking delicious Italian meals for everyone. She always started her day with her Dunkin Donuts coffee and ended her day with her glass of White Zinfandel with her dinner. She loved receiving her daily phone calls from her sisters, and she always looked forward to her visits with her cousins, friends, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. She considered herself so lucky to be able to watch her grandchildren begin families of their own and spend quality time with her fourteen great-grandchildren. Sadie was loved by all and was fortunate to have caretakers who took care of her as if she was apart of their family.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years Anthony G. "Red" Cardillo and siblings Mary Janetti, Raymond Alesse, Rosalie Bonica, Lena Green, Rosario "Sonny" Alesse, Jeanette Taylor, and Carmen Alesse.

Sadie is survived by her loving & devoted children Anthony Cardillo, Jr. and his wife Deborah; Anita Haley and her husband Jack; and Theresa Falzone and her husband Robert all of Waltham; and her dear sisters Angie Salvo and Eleanor Martell both of Waltham. In addition she is also survived by eleven cherished grandchildren and fourteen adoring great-grandchildren.
