Obituary for David Anthony Fitzsimmons

Of Clinton, passed away unexpectedly early Wednesday morning June 19th, 2019 at Newton - Wellesley Hospital at the age of 36.

Born on December 23, 1982 in Newton; beloved son of Nancy Ann Iarossi-Mellino and David M. Fitzsimmons, David was raised in Newton & Watertown and had just purchased a home with his wife in Clinton.

David graduated from Watertown High School with the Class of 2001; he has been employed as a Custodian for the past 14 years with the City of Newton School Department most recently at Newton South High School. He served as Treasurer of the Custodians Union and was just re-elected to the position he held so proudly.

Growing up David had a passion for playing sports especially hockey. He played in the Watertown and Newton Youth Hockey programs and throughout high school with the Watertown Raiders High School hockey team. He also had a love for animals and was an avid dog owner.

He cherished the time spent with his family and absolutely adored his niece & nephew.

David is survived by his loving wife & soulmate to whom he married on September 9, 2010 Lisa Ballard; his beloved parents Nancy Ann Iarossi-Mellino and her husband Richard of Newton and David M. Fitzsimmons and his companion Kara Kelley of Newton; his dear sister & brother; Melissa Reaume and her husband Billy of Lynn; and Richard "Ricky" Mellino Jr. of Newton, his adored niece & nephew Anastasia and Anthony; his cherished maternal grandparents; Anna Iarossi and the late Anthony "Rossi" Iarossi of Newton and his late paternal grandparents Donald and Mary Fitzsimmons; his devoted aunts, uncles and cousins; Donald and Stacey Fitzsimmons of Uxbridge and their children Christine and Tommy; Kathleen and Michael Tipping of Belmont and their children Katherine and Jennifer; Michael and Brenda Iarossi of Newton and their children Nicole and Michael Jr. and his wife Crysti; his father-in-law & mother-in-law Richard and Mimi Ballard of Princeton NJ; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Brian and Patricia Ballard of Belmont MA. In addition he is survived by the Aste Family of Watertown, John, Bethany and Jesse. “David will be forever loved and dearly missed by countless friends and family”

Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Service in celebration of David’s Life in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Tuesday morning June 25th at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Newton Cemetery. Visiting Hours will be held in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons on Monday June 24th from 4 – 8 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
