Obituary for Peter M. Collura

Of Waltham, passed away Tuesday evening June 4th, 2019 at the Beth Israel Deaconess - Glover Hospital in Needham after a long illness at the age of 90.

Born on September 21, 1928 in Waltham; son of the late Philip and Sara (Tantillo) Collura, Peter spent most of his life as a resident of Waltham and for a period of time in West Newton.

Peter had been a self-employed Mason throughout his life; he owned and operated A & A Foundations for over 52 years. When he was a young man he worked as a Farmer in Concord and Lincoln. He continued to work at the Waltham Self Storage following his years of masonry. He was a hard worker and took great pride in his work.

He proudly served with the United States Army during the Korean War.

In his spare time Peter enjoyed gardening, fishing, watching sports, bird watching, homing pigeons and horse racing.

Peter is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years Phyllis Jane (Furlong) Collura, his loving & devoted children Jane Collura and Peter Collura both of Waltham, his cherished grandson Jason Collura and his dear brother Philip Collura of Florida. In addition he is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was brother of the late Mary DiNallo, Madeline Bennett, Sara, Joseph, John, and Charles Collura.

Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Service in celebration of Peter’s Life in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Friday morning June 14th at 11:00 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waltham. Visiting Hours will be held in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons on Friday prior to the Funeral Service from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
