John William Kratoville

Of Waltham, passed away, Saturday morning, May 11, 2019 at Miriam Boyd Parlin Hospice Residence after a lengthy illness. He was 59.

Born in Brookline and raised in Waltham to the late Francis and Dorothy (Avery) Kratoville, he was a lifelong resident of Waltham and a 1978 graduate of Waltham High School.

John worked as a security guard for Waltham Hospital and later Children’s Hospital in Waltham for over 30 years.

In his spare time John enjoyed listening to Neil Diamond, dogs, following the local sports teams especially the Red Sox and Patriots, and watching old western movies. He was a longtime and active member of the American Legion Nonantum Post 440.

He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years Thelma M. (LeBlanc) Kratoville, his devoted daughter Lisa Taipan and her husband Mark of Dover, NH, and his siblings, Judy Opoku of Lowell, Joan Brackett and her husband Eddie of Hampton, NH, Joyce and her husband Robert Joyce of Naples, FL, and James Kratoville of Atlanta, GA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Service in celebration of John’s life at the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons, 773 Moody St. Waltham, Thursday, May 16, at 11 am. Interment will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 4-8 pm. Parking attendants will be on duty.
