Obituary for Steven P. Larade
Entered eternal rest & peace on Wednesday April 17, 2019 in his home in Waltham surrounded by his loving family following a brief, but courageous battle with Renal Cell Carcinoma at the age of 47.
Steven was born on March 16, 1972 in Waltham; beloved son of Doris (Aucoin) Larade of Waltham and the late Joseph “Linus” Larade. He has been a lifelong resident of Waltham.
Steven graduated from the Waltham Vocational High School with the Class of 1990. He worked as an Auto Body Specialist at 3 Sons Auto Body in Waltham for several years until he accepted a position with the City of Waltham Department of Public Works in the Water & Sewer Division and then as a Foreman for the Cemetery Department at Mount Feake Cemetery & Grove Hill Cemetery.
Throughout his childhood and as a young adult Steve loved playing hockey, especially during the French-American Victory Club Hockey Tournaments. He enjoyed his many road trips to Canada with his friends and family.
Steven was the definition of “gentleman.” Which made Meri fall madly in love with him on their first date. After a quick courtship, he married the love of his life in December of 2002 at Christ Church in Waltham. They proceeded to have two loving children, Renee & Marc. Family was his life. When he wasn’t spending the weekends down the Cape, he was out in the yard working on his many projects in the backyard. And at the end of the day, you could always find him in the backyard, by the fire, drinking a New Castle with his best friend Dickie.
Life often isn’t fair and many struggles are thrown in our way during our life journey – that’s why we’re taught to live life every day, every minute. Steven has done some absolutely great things on his journey – hard working, well respected, and loved by all that know him. He found his soul mate in Meri and Meri in him – not all people can claim that level of passion and love; two great kids, a beautiful home and a great home life. Steven is a great provider and protector of his family – he has fulfilled his responsibility as a husband and father in great style.
At the family summer reunions – following the annual party each year Steven would arrive, find a chair and wouldn’t move more than 10 feet from his seat – he would entertain everyone and every year the whole clan would look forward to seeing him and laughing with him – he was a funny guy with a great sense of humor and would tell great stories about Meri!!! A sure display of his love for her. There will always be a seat designated for Steven at all future reunions.
To have another 20 years together would be the hope and wish – but embrace, laugh, cry and smile about the 20 years you’ve had with Steven – the time together is a blessing and the memories will be with you always.
Steven is survived by his devoted & loving wife of 16 years Meredith “Meri” (Lobo) Larade; his two cherished children Renee and Marc Larade; his extended family whom he considered his own family, his dear father-in-law & mother-in-law Peter and Sally (McCullough) Lobo of Waltham; sister-in-law Alison Coates and her husband Brian and a brother in Eric Lobo and his wife Ana; his beloved mother Doris, and his siblings Denise Ferrera and Roy Larade. In addition he is survived by several adoring nieces & nephews, numerous close friends and his best friend Stephen “Dickie” Caissie.
Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend Visiting Hours in the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Monday April 22nd from 2 - 8 p.m. Funeral Services in celebration of Steven's Life will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Waltham with a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday morning April 23rd at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham.
