Obituary for Anita Poirier (Mobilia)

M. Anita Poirier, 86 a life-long resident of Waltham, MA passed away peacefully on February 5, 2020 at the Meadowgreen Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family.

Anita was born on January 25, 1934 in Waltham and married Clifford Poirier on January 15, 1955 . Together they raised 5 children.

Anita’s great joy in life was to be surrounded by her loved ones, her circle was large and always open for more. Nothing brought her more joy than taking care of people. She was a marvelous cook and anyone who shared a meal with her looked forward to her delicious cooking, always plentiful and served with much love and care. She was famously known by the friends of her children for making the best ice tea and serving it at her pool that she loved and was proud to share with extended family and friends.

The thread that was constant throughout her life was her love for her family and being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, siblings, in-laws, and her friends was all she ever desired.

Anita was a devoted stay at home mom for many years which she enjoyed thoroughly, she really enjoyed hosting a coffee group with the ladies of the neighborhood in those days. When her children were grown she worked at a local Waltham company, Information Resources part- time and then with her sister Marguerite cleaning houses. She truly had a servant's heart; whatever you needed she wanted to help. She was proud to be the wife of a football coach and all that came with that over the years, cooking for the teams and making sure the players were well fed was her speciality! She was a great softball player in her youth and later in life she was involved in a women’s bowling league where she was consistently the high scorer of the league.

Anita was predeceased by her beloved husband of 54 years Clifford, her cherished grandson Branden, her dear parents Joseph and Marie Rita (Belliveau) Mobilia and her siblings.

She is survived by her 5 devoted & loving children, Barbara Tabin and husband David; Holyoke, MA; David and Jill Poirier, Marshfield, MA; Susan and Jim Brown, Milford, MA; Ronald and Susan Poirier, Waltham, MA; and Joyce and Paul Quaranto, Waltham, MA; 14 remaining grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren all who brought her so much happiness. Sleepovers at Nana’s were a highlight of many a summer for the grandchildren! Her loss will be felt greatly by all of those she loved and touched deeply.
