Obituary for Alden Weymouth Gould Jr.

Waltham – Alden Weymouth Gould, Jr, 92, died Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Newton Wellesley Hospital, after a long illness. He was fondly known as “Chuck” by his family and friends.

He leaves his niece Jacqueline (Gould) Beaudoin, her husband Gerry Beaudoin and his grandnephew Gerard Beaudoin, III; his cousin, Betty Anne (Gould) Youlden; a large extended family in Canada; and many close friends.

Chuck was born in Norfolk, Virginia and was raised in Watertown, Massachusetts, the son of Alden W. Gould and Florence E (Merriam) Gould. His brother, Robert E. Gould, sister-in-law, Joan C. (Murrin) Gould, and nephew Robert D. Gould, predeceased him.

A veteran of WWII, Mr. Gould served in the California State Guard, the US Navy, US Army and the US Maritime Service. He was honorably discharged from the US Army Transportation Corps in 1946. In his retirement, he served as the Unit Commander of the Mass National Guard Veterans, Unit 14.

Mr. Gould lived near Fairbanks Alaska where he worked constructing the Alaskan Railroad. He then moved to California where he spent many years working for Wyle (Elmer) Electronics. Following his retirement, he moved back to Waltham, and was active in Veterans’ affairs.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Graveside Service in celebration of Chuck's life at the Newton Cemetery, 791 Walnut St., Newton, Monday, January 28, 2019 at 2:30 pm.
