Suzette C. (Bonfilio) Demarais

Of Waltham, passed after a lengthy illness, Friday, December 14, 2018 at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital. She was 86.

Born and raised in Waltham to the late Frank and Suzette (Taylor) Bonfilio, she was a lifelong resident of Waltham. She was a graduate of Waltham High School and Cambridge Hospital Nursing School

Suzette worked as a registered Nurse at Cambridge Hospital for 50 years.

During her spare time, Suzette enjoyed traveling, skiing, being outdoors, and staying fit. She loved to exercise and participate in road races. She was also musical and artistic, she played the piano and painted. Most of all she loved being around her friends and family.

She was the beloved wife of the late Leroy Demarais and sister of the late Dorothy Bonfilio.

She is survived by her loving husband John Berman of Waltham, her devoted children Suzette M. Demarais of Waltham, Roy Demarais, Jr. of Waltham. Laurie Gonzalez and her husband John of Narraganset, RI, Linda M. Demarais of Derry, NH, and Leslie Ryznal and her husband Robert of, Derry, NH, her brother Frank Bonfilio of Littleton, Lawrence Bonfilio and his wife Bernadette of Mashpee, and her cherished grandchildren Stacie Demarais, Jennifer Clark, Sherri Gonzalez, Jeffrey Demarais, Patrick Murphy, and Tyler Ryznal. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Tyler, Thomas, Lily, and Jeffrey, and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend funeral services from the Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody St., WALTHAM, Wednesday, December 18, 2018 at 10:00 am with a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Suzetteā€™s life at Our Lady, Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 920 Trapelo Rd., Waltham at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.

I had the pleasure of working with Suzette at Cambridge Hospital. She was a kind person, always happy and I recall she had far more energy than me, even after she attended a rock concert till the wee hours the night before. I think it was The Rolling Stones...I'm glad she enjoyed each day.

Suzette was the most remarkable woman, nurse and friend. I will always remember her smile, laugh and upbeat approach to life. Her children and grand children meant everything to her. My sympathies to all the family. she will be missed by the many lives she touch
