Obituary for Rose Marie Dowey (Pelletier)

Rose "Marie" Dowey

Of Waltham, passed away, Monday, October 22, 2018 at the Wingate of Weston Nursing Home. She was 91

Born and raised in Waltham to the late Jules and Eleanor (Pruneau) Pelletier, she was a graduate of St. Pierre’s High School. She raised her own family in Sudbury, then spent 30 years in Salisbury, before moving back to Waltham. She was a resident of the “Mill” for over 20 year.

Marie held several different jobs including working as an assembler for Dennison’s in Framingham, and as a waitress and bartender for Hudson Rod and Gun Club and Ma’s Diner.

In her spare time Marie enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, using computers, and dancing. It was not unusual to see her doing the famous “Marie” dance. She was quite the firecracker and often whatever was on her mind came out her mouth. Although not always appropriate she sure got a laugh out of many and will be missed dearly. She was a longtime member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary post 2152 in Waltham.

She is survived by her loving children Ronald Pelletier and his partner Tony Baldi of Maine, Darlene Mullis and her husband Jimmy of Virginia, Ellen A. McGean and her husband Jerry of Waltham, and Thomas F. Dowey of Waltham, her brother Edward Pelletier of NH, and her sisters Louise Savoy of Maine, Bernadette Hart of Maine, and Lorraine Pelletier of Wayland. She was also survived by 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Irene Cutler-Smith, Ellie McQuaid, Jennette Place and her late brothers Jules Pelletier and Richard Pelletier.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service in celebration of Marie's life at the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons, 773 Moody St., WALTHAM, Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 12 noon. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 11 am to 12 noon. Parking attendants will be on duty.
