Of Waltham died suddenly on Friday in Jupiter, Florida while visiting her daughter and son-in-law just weeks shy of her 100th birthday with her centennial party already planned.
Born in Boston, Ann and Val moved to Waltham in 1950 to their Trapelo Road home which quickly became a gathering place for family, neighbors, and friends. It was the ideal place to raise their growing family of three daughters and one son.
Ann was raised in Boston and graduated from the Roxbury Practical Arts High School and for many years worked at the family run Fish Market.
Years later she became the supervisor of Food Services at the Middlesex County Hospital. Ann never tired of working outside of her home, selling Avon products for over 50 years.
A woman of boundless energy, Ann was involved in many community activities. In 1977, Ann became the founding member of the John M. Sullivan V.F.W. Post #10334 Auxiliary serving one year as President and the past several years as Senior Vice President. She was also an active member of the Joseph F. Hill American Legion Post #156.
Ann remained very active, becoming a member of the Red Hat Society and the North Waltham Senior Citizens. She spent most of her free time doing some of the things she really enjoyed, took 89 trips to Las Vegas, visits to many casinos, playing bingo and shopping sprees.
Ann was the daughter of Francesco & Maria (Curreri) Mortelliti, the devoted wife of Valentino “Val” Giorgianni who died in 2009. The loving mother of the late Joseph Giorgianni who died in 2013. Sister of the late Nunzio & Frank Mortelliti, the late Pauline Pizziferri, Joseph Mortelliti & Madeline DeTore.
Ann was the cherished mother of Joanne Hallett (David) of Jupiter, FL., Marie O’Brien (Daniel) of Northborough, MA., and Katherine Carideo (William) of Holliston, MA. Mother-in-law of Connie Giorgianni of Colorado Springs, CO, her twin sisters Mary Saia, Theresa Russo both of Hingham, and Rose LaVerde of Wilmington. In addition, Ann leaves 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and many nieces & nephew and grand nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Ann’s life by gathering for calling hours in the Brasco & Sons Funeral Home 773 Moody St., Waltham on Friday, April 23rd, from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Parking attendants will be on duty.

Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 24th at Our Lady Comforter of The Afflicted Church, Trapelo Road, Waltham at 11:30 A.M.
Interment will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
