Obituary for John F. "Harry" Connarton Sr.

John F. “Harry” Connarton, Sr.

Of Waltham, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness, Friday, August 31, 2018 at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He was 76.

Born and raised in Cambridge to the late Thomas and Sadie (McGowan) Connarton, he has been a resident of Waltham for the past 40 years.

John was a Vietnam Era veteran; and was a longtime member and Past Commander of the American Legion Marsh Post 442 in Cambridge.

During his life, John had several jobs. He worked for the City of Cambridge for many years in the Traffic Department, for Polaroid in Waltham as a Lab Technician, and currently at Cambridge Wine & Spirits.

In his spare time, John enjoyed following the local sports teams, spending time with his friends from work, going to City Streets with his brother, but his favorite thing was being with his cherished grandchildren, Jack and Keira.

Besides his grandchildren, he is survived by his loving son Waltham Police Officer John F. Connarton, Jr. and his wife Weston Police Officer Kellie (Moloney) Connarton, his brother Joseph Connarton, and his wife Jennifer (Carbone) of Waltham.

He was the former husband of the late Monika (Hekenmiller) Connarton and brother of the late Thomas Connarton and his wife the late Carol (Philips).

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend funeral services from the Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody St., WALTHAM, Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 9:30 am with a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of John’s life at Our Lady’s Church, 920 Trapelo Rd., Waltham at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Cambridge Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
