Obituary for Carmela Alonge (Buscemi)

Of Waltham, passed away peacefully Friday morning April 20th, 2018 at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge at the age of 83.

Born on July 27, 1934 in Aragona, Sicily; daughter of the late Raymond and Assunta (Terrasi) Buscemi, Carmela was raised in Sicily and immigrated to the United States with her family in 1970. She has been a resident of Waltham for the past 48 years.

Carmela worked for a brief period of time at the Waltham Watch Factory, the standard & Thompson Corporation and for the Puritan Dress Company. She had a passion for crocheting & needlepointing.

Family was the central focus of her life and she cherished the time spent with family & friends.

Beloved wife of the late Giuseppe Alonge.

Carmela is survived by her loving & devoted children RaiMondo Alonge of Waltham, Francesco Alonge and his wife Josephine of Waltham, Vincenza Porter and her husband Morton of New Hampshire, and Anthony Alonge and his devoted companion Isabelle & her family of Carver, and her dear siblings Theresa Criscenzo of Waltham, Maria Robbins of Colorado, Antonio Buscemi of Sicily, and Silvestro Buscemi of Waltham. In addition she is survived by 27 cherished grand and great grandchildren, and numerous nieces & nephews.

Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services in celebration of Carmela's Life from the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Thursday morning April 26th at 9:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery Chapel Mausoleum. Visiting Hours will be held in the Funeral Home on Wednesday April 25th from 4 - 8 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
