Obituary for Tracy Anne Favreau

Tracy Anne Favreau
Of Fort Lauderdale, Florida formerly Waltham, passed away peacefully Monday December 11th, 2017 at the Broward Health & Medical Center in Florida at the age of 52.

Born on August 22, 1965 in Waltham; beloved daughter of Linda M. (Bounker) Favreau and the late (Ret.) Waltham Police Officer Robert E. Favreau, Tracy was raised in Waltham and has been a resident of Fort Lauderdale, Florida for the past 33 years.

A graduate of Waltham High School with the Class of 1983, Tracy began working in the medical field at the former Waltham Hospital as a P.C.A. She was encouraged to further her education and attended Middlesex Community College graduating as a Radiologist Technician. After moving to Florida, Tracy again furthered her education at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine graduating with her Doctorate degree 2001. She followed that with an Internship at Palmetto Hospital in 2002. Tracy practiced Family Medicine in Residency at Broward General Medical Center in 2004 and did her Dermatology Residency at Broward General Medical Center in 2007.

From 2007 to 2015, Tracy had been employed at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine as an Assistant Professor, College of Osteopathic Medicine and Chair for the Department of Dermatology Residency Program Director, Dermatology. Since 2015 Tracey operated her own private practice in Fort Lauderdale "Favreau Dermatology & Cosmetic Center. She had been affiliated with the Broward Health Medical Center, North Broward Medical Center and the Specialty Care Clinic.

She had been a member of many different Professional Societies including American Osteopathic College of Dermatology, served as a Trustee 2013-2016 American Academy of Dermatology, Broward Dermatology Society, American Osteopathic Medicine Association, Florida Osteopathic Medical Association and the American College of Family Physicians.

Dr. Favreau volunteered to treat the less fortunate at community clinics - the Specialty Care facility and the Broward Health Medical Center outpatient clinic in Fort Lauderdale – she treated almost 2,000 patients per year.

She had a passion for learning and teaching others; she published numerous scholarly articles and presented at professional meetings throughout United States, including appearing on local news stations

She was quoted as saying “There is nothing more rewarding to me in this world than helping somebody. I select and carefully train my residents to develop a bedside manner focused on healing. If patients can’t open up and feel comfortable with you, they’re not going to tell you what’s wrong with them.”

Tracy had a love of animals but most especially for cats. Her greatest enjoyment in life came from spending time with family & friends, traveling, going to the beach, ocean and dancing.
