Obituary for Mary Catherine Nicosia (DeDomenico)

Maria Catherine Nicosia (De Domenico),

Lovingly known as Mary passed peacefully on Friday, February 19th at the Hillsborough County Nursing Home in Bedford, NH after a long illness. She was 98 years old.

Born on April 29, 1922 in Boston to Michael and Frances De Domenico, Mary spent her early childhood in rural New York. She moved back to Boston, MA, and then Belmont, MA where she lived most of her adult life before residing with her daughter and son-in-law in Nashua NH in her final years.

Mary was predeceased by her loving husband, Mario Nicosia, her son Thomas Nicosia, and her siblings Francis De Domenico, Frances (De Domenico) Oliverio, Catherine (De Demenico) Oliverio, and Anthony De Domenco. She leaves behind her loving and devoted daughter and son-in-law Marie (Nicosia) Cura and Joseph Cura; her five grandchildren Lisa (Cura) Cloutier and her husband Tim, Anthony Cura, Gina (Cura) Grenier and her husband Larz, Michelle (Nicosia) Stauffer and her husband Brad, and Matthew Nicosia and his wife Courtney; as well as her six great-grandchildren Nicholas, Rose, Connor, Cate, Madison, and Mia. She also leaves behind her adoring niece and nephews Rochelle and Roy Sacco and Robert Oliverio as well as many grand nieces and nephews, and good friends.

Mary valued family above all else, and she was the happiest when surrounded by her relatives and friends. An amazing entertainer and hostess, she always made everyone feel welcome, no matter the occasion. She loved spending time with her husband Mario at the beach, dancing, vacationing in Florida, playing bingo, and visiting with her children and grandchildren. Her warmth, love, sassy sense of humor, and style will be missed by all who knew her.

Out of genuine concern for those we love and care deeply about during this difficult time throughout the world and in our community; family gathered to celebrate Mary's life and remember the love she shared with those she touched at a private Graveside Funeral Service in Calvary Cemetery in Waltham.

A celebration of Mary's life will be held for family & friends when social distancing guidelines allow.
