To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Rose Grassa (Palumbo), please visit our Heartfelt Sympathies Store.
Rose was the daughter of Italian immigrants. She completed the 9th grade and then had to go to work to help support her family. Rose lived in the tenements of the West End of Boston and she worked in the garment
district of Boston. In 1941 she married Paul, who was the love of her life.
As a wedding gift, the owner of the factory she worked in gave her this set of dishes. It was the wedding gift he gave to all the girls who worked for him. Rose and Paul had two daughters and it was their dream that their
daughters be educated. Sitting at the dinner table, these caring and dedicated parents talked to their girls and listened to them.
Their home was one of love, music and laughter. Rosemary graduated from Salem State College with a graduate and undergraduate degree. Paula graduated from Boston College. Rose’s four grandchildren are also college graduates and she was so very proud of them.
