Florine C. Pitre (Leger) , 85, formerly of Waltham passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday July 26, 2022.
Born in New Brunswick Canada on Wednesday February 10,1937 to the late Raymond and Margaret Leger.
Florine was the second of seventeen children of Raymond and Margaret Leger. Raised on a farm in St. Paul New Brunswick, she worked the fields alongside her family and helped raise her siblings until she moved to Moncton New Brunswick at age 16 where she continued working in housekeeping to help support her family. With her strong work ethic and adventurous lifestyle Florine moved to New York for a while doing Homemaking for a relative. Later moving back to St. Paul where she would meet the love of her life Leonard Pitre. They moved to Waltham wed and raised five children. Originally employed as a factory worker, she eventually transitioned to housecleaning . Florine always loved working and took great pride in doing her job well.Florine & Leonard worked hard to provide a good life for their family. She absolutely loved being a mom, and coming home to hugs and kisses from her children. Together Florine and Leonard bought a home in Lakeview, in Waltham. Florine lived for her family and worked hard to provide an opportunity for all her children to be involved in many extracurricular activities such as hockey, baseball, summer camp and scouting. She was always running off to watch one child or another in team sports. Florine was strong and independent person, caring and compassionate. She would give what little she had to share with others. Respectful and firmly believing that everyone should feel welcome and accepted for whoever they are. She was always helping others throughout the years, on a mission to help and save people as well as animals. Florine took a cake decorating course with her daughter Marie and loved to decorate cakes.She loved taking long walks and talks with her daughter in-law Nancy at several running tracks in Waltham while trying to get fit. She loved playing card games with family over the years, her favorite was a game called 200. Florine loved going to the French Club, but mostly enjoyed the nights she and Leonard would go to the Red Barn to drink and dance the night away to her favorite local country music band the Country Rovers. Florine liked spending time at lakes and beaches with her young family. She and Leonard used to love camping and at times took some of their grandchildren with them. Florine and Leonard also liked to climb mountains together in the White mountains. Their greatest achievement was climbing Mt. Washington. Florine very much loved going to church. She found peace there. Happily, she had the opportunity to frequent church during her final years quite often. Florine also loved to feed birds and squirrels outside her bedroom window. She loved to see her hummingbirds, blue jays, orioles, and cardinals.
Florine is predeceased by her beloved husband Leonard Pitre with whom she shared 61 years of marriage until February of 2022, her loving parents as well as, most of her siblings including sisters… Alfreda, Geraldine, Patsy, Alma and Emma. She is also predeceased by her brothers, Alfred, Leo, Eloi, Ben, Dennis, Oscar, Leondre and Pete. She is also predeceased by her daughter Marie Marks 54 and Marie’s
2nd child Timmy 2 months.
Florine is survived by her loving and devoted children along with their families including the following…Her daughter Marie’s two surviving children Billy and Amanda Marks.
Gerry, Nancy and Nia Pitre.
Paul, Kate, Matthew, Jonathan, and Alyssa Pitre.
Linda & Rick Hannibal, Linda’s sons Douglas and Dan as well as Rick’s Daughter Amber and several Great
grand children.
Lisa and Kevin Boyce along with their sons Patrick and Ryan.
In addition, her beloved three sisters and their spouses. Edna and Val Henri, Marie and Donnie Fillmore, and Loraine Jaillet.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather and remember the love Florine shared during Visiting Hours on Saturday August 06, 2022 From 3 pm to 6 pm . Followed by a Celebration of her Life at 6pm in The Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco and Sons Memorial Chapels located 773 Moody St. Waltham, MA. Parking Attendants will be on Duty.
