Obituary for Lawrence J. "Larry" McLean

LAWRENCE McLEAN

Of Waltham, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 8th, 2022 at Meadow Green Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Waltham after a period of declining health. He was 93.

Born on September 26, 1928 in Boston; beloved son of the late Charles D. McLean and Marian E. (Mullin) McLean. Larry's aunt Frances Mullin helped raise him after the loss of his parents.

Larry served proudly and honorably with the United States Army during the Korean War.

He had been employed with American Electroplating Company in Shipping & Receiving for many years.

Lawrence was heavily involved in youth sports organizations. He founded the South Waltham Street Hockey League; he coached little league baseball at Nipper Maher Park in Waltham for the Athletics (A's) and the Dodgers.

He was predeceased by his loving siblings Donald McLean, Robert McLean, Virginia Longe and Edwina Kelly.

Larry is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, who loved him dearly.

Those who wish to pay their respects to Larry can do so in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Thursday July 21st from 9am until 11am. Family and friends are welcome to gather and celebrate Larry's life and remember the love and friendship he shared with others at a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday morning July 21st at Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 920 Trapelo Road, Waltham at 11:30 a.m. Burial with United States Army Military Honors will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham.
