Of Waltham, passed away peacefully early Monday morning March 7th, 2016 with her loving family by her side at the Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge at the age of 98.
Born on December 24, 1917 in Sicily; daughter of the late Ignazio and Rosalia (LiCata) Scifo, Josephine was raised in Italy before immigrating to the United States and residing in Waltham for the past 45 years.
Josephine also known to many of her customers as "Signora" was the founder, owner and operator of Settebello International, an Italian Fashion apparel business that began in Boston and spread throughout the world as the company grew larger. She established the highest quality of Italian apparel in the industry.
She was devoted to her Catholic faith and her family. She enjoyed having her family together and often prepared extravagant meals at her home in Waltham. Josephine always had that close connection to her homeland and would often travel back to Italy to visit with family & friends.
Beloved wife of the late Antonio Vaccaro and dear mother of the late Palmira Giglia.
Josephine is survived by her devoted & loving son John G. Vaccaro and his wife Gudrun of Cambridge, her 5 cherished grandchildren, 6 adoring great grandchildren and many dear nieces & nephews.
Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Service in celebration of Josephine's Life in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody St, WALTHAM on Wednesday afternoon March 9th at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham. Visitation will be held prior to the Funeral Service in the Mary Catherine Chapel on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
