Of Clinton, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning June 21st, 2014 surrounded by his loving family in his home at the age of 85.
Born on April 25, 1929 in Waltham, son of the late Bernard and Lucy (Mirabito) Zacame, Joe was raised in Waltham and had lived in Bolton and Wayland for several years before moving to Clinton in 1998.
Joe proudly served with the United States Navy during the Korean War.
He was employed as a young man at the Waltham Watch Factory, and the Coca Cola Corporation and retired from Girioux Brothers Trucking. He was a longtime member of the Teamsters Union Local #25.
In his spare time he was passionate about history as a life member of Old Sturbridge Village and the Bolton Historical Society. He enjoyed Radio Controlled Airplanes and was a member of the Charles River and Crow Island Radio Control Clubs. Joe was an avid motorcycle enthusiast traveling not only around the United States on a motorcycle but all over Europe as well.
Beloved husband of the late Janet B. (Wilson) Zacame.
He is survived by his devoted son James "Jim" J. Zacame and his wife Melissa of Afton, Oklahoma, his cherished grandchildren Leah and James Zacame Jr., Molly Dearth and Megan Lane, his dear sister Josephine "Jay" Coraccio of Waltham and his loving companion for the past 7 years Louise Bogett of Clinton. In addition he is survived by many nieces & nephews.
Brother of Virginia Rando and Bernard Zacame.
Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Gathering in celebration of Joe's Life in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Wednesday evening from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Services will conclude with United States Navy Military Honors.
