Of Watertown, passed away peacefully Sunday June 23rd, 2013 in the Wingate of Needham at the age of 87.
Born on August 6, 1925 in Boston's West End; son of the late Nicholas and Susan (Camella) Zaffiro, Jim was raised in Boston and has been a resident of Watertown for the past 60 years.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II.
Jim was employed as a Outside Salesperson for Brown & Wales Steel Company in Boston & Cambridge and M & K Engineering in North Reading for many years. He was a past member of the Teamsters Local #379.
In his spare time he enjoyed traveling with family & friends to Foxwoods and was an avid sports fan.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years Florence V. (Menjin) Zaffiro, his devoted & loving children Rita Casserly and her husband John of Watertown and Paul Zaffiro of NV, his cherished grandchildren Matthew & Lisa Casserly, brother-in-law George Menjin and his wife Patricia of South Boston, and his dear nephew Arthur LoPresti and his wife Elaine. In addition he is survived by several cousins, nieces & nephews.
Brother of the late Josephine LoPresti, Sara, Nick and John Zaffiro.
Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services from the Brasco & Sons Memorial Chapels, 325 Trapelo Rd, BELMONT on Wednesday morning June 26th at 9:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of James Life at Saint Luke's Church, 132 Lexington Street, Belmont at 10:30 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will be held at the Massachusetts Veterans National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:30 p.m
