Obituary for Domenic Quintiliani

Of Norwood, passed away peacefully Saturday morning January 19th, 2013 surrounded by his loving family after a very brief battle with Leukemia at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston at the age of 76.

Born on July 5, 1936 in San Donato val di Comino, Italy; son of the late Rinaldo and Loretta (DeRubeis) Quintiliani, Domenic immigrated to the United States as a young man at the age of 18 in 1955. After marriage, Domenic resided in Watertown before moving to Newton for 34 years and moved to Norwood in 1999. For years the family summered in Domenic’s homeland of Italy and at their home in Centerville on Cape Cod.

Domenic was a Carpenter and General Contractor in the building trades throughout his life. He was a partner in C & D Contractors for 17 years and until his retirement owned and operated Domenic Quintiliani Contracting. His passion was building and often he would build or fix anything around his family and friends houses just to make them happy.

He had a love of life and the outdoors, he enjoyed the beach, boating, sailing, working on the house, gardening and traveling. Family was the most important aspect of his life. He focused on being together as a family and traveling with them back to Italy for years.

He was a Life Member of the Sons of Italy Lodge 1069 in the Lake section of Newton and was a member of the Norwood Retired Men’s Club. In his spare time he enjoyed playing bocce, bowling, playing and watching soccer.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years Carol Ann (Cocco) Quintiliani, his devoted & loving children Ronald Quintiliani and his wife Susan of Norwood, David Quintiliani of Canton, Domenic Quintiliani Jr. of Avon and Melissa Holm and her husband Erik of Medfield, his cherished grandchildren Brianna, Adrianna, Nicole, Alicia, Madelyn, Isabella & Tyler, and his dear siblings Gerardo Quintiliani and Anita Ventura both of Brighton. In addition he is survived by many nieces & nephews.

The Funeral will begin from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St., (Rt. 1A) NORWOOD, at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, January 23, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Norwood. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery, Norwood. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 22, 3-8PM.
