John died early Saturday morning November 24, 2012, in Everett, Massachusetts surrounded by his children. He was 76.
John was born November 1, 1936 to the late John Sr. and Matilda (Kaledas) Yorkin in Kingston, Pennsylvania. He was raised in Connecticut and resided there most of his life.
John worked at Eli Lilly Pharmaceuticals for 35 years, spending most of this time traveling the country as a sales representative.
He was a proud member of the United States Air Force, serving from 1961 to his honorable discharge in 1964.
An alumnus of the University of Connecticut, John was a passionate fan of UConn athletics. In addition, he was an avid skier, loved traveling, and was very involved with the theater.
John’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He is survived by his loving children Tim Yorkin and his wife Jennifer Norris of Massachusetts, Andy Yorkin and his wife Sheila of Utah, and Korey Yorkin of Connecticut. Cherished grandfather of Kurt, Nora Jane, Tom, Will, and Evan Yorkin. He is also survived by his dear sister Sandy Linfert and her husband David of Connecticut and nephews Jeff and Doug Linfert and niece Abbey Linfert.
