Of Belmont, passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon July 5th, 2012 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington at the age of 87.
Born on February 6, 1925 in East Boston; son of the late Rafael and Maria (Ciccarelli) Zecchino, Guido was raised in East Boston and moved to Belmont in 1947 where he raised his family and has lived ever since.
He served with the United States Army’s 543rd Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion during World War II.
After returning from the War, Guido moved to Belmont in 1947 to open “Belwave Beauty Salon” in Waverly Square. He owned and operated the Beauty Salon for over 37 years until his retirement.
Being home and enjoying life with his family was most important to him. For the first two weeks in August every year he always looked forward to his vacation with his family throughout New England. As a child growing up he played the violin and as an adult he loved listening to classical music. He had a great passion for researching and experimenting with everything from gardening, photography, nutrition, cooking and baking.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years whom he married on October 17, 1948 Marie “Mary” (Ciliberto) Zecchino, his loving daughters Deborah Zecchino of Arlington and Denise Zecchino Peterson and her husband Mark A. Peterson of Wilmington, his siblings Edith Ciliberto and Remo Zecchino both of East Boston. In addition he is survived by several nieces & nephews.

Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend Visiting Hours in the Funeral Home on Tuesday July 10th from 4 – 8 p.m. with a Funeral Service in celebration of Guido’s Life in the Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 325 Trapelo Road, BELMONT from 7:30 - 8:00 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to use the complimentary valet parking services.
In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
