Of Newton, died peacefully February 10th, 2010 at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital after a brief illness. He was 87.

Born on August 29, 1922 in Calabria, Italy, son of the late Antonio and Maria (Umbrello) Ieraci, Mr. Ieraci immigrated to the United States as a young boy and has been a resident of Newton since the age of 13.

He served with the United States Army during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign.

Mr. Ieraci owned & operated with his late father “Ieraci & Son Landscaping” of Newton for over 50 years now operated by his grandson.

In his spare time he was a member of the Saint Bernard’s Men’s, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 2498 in Needham, and past member of the Christopher Columbus Club in Newton. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing cribbage and traveling with friends and family to Foxwoods. He was devoted to his family especially his grandchildren.

Beloved husband for 59 years to the late Nicolena (Fiorentino) Ieraci.

He is survived by his loving daughters Maria V. Armstrong and her husband Roy of Newton, Antonette L. Capello and her husband Joseph of Newton, Virginia C. Barboni and her husband Gerald of Natick, and Carol A. Pappas and her husband William of Newton, his cherished grandchildren John Capello, Jeanette Leone, Michael Armstrong, Beth Butler, Nicole Guglielmucci, Danielle Clarke, Charles and Alexandra Pappas. In addition he is survived by14 great grandchildren, several sister-in-laws & brother-in-laws, and many nieces & nephews.

Funeral Services will be held from the Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM, (BrascoFuneralHome.com) Saturday morning Feb. 13th at 9:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Frank’s Life at Saint Bernard’s Church, 1523 Washington Street, West Newton at 10:30 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Newton Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held in the Funeral Home on Friday Feb. 12th from 3-8 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
