Obituary for Francesco Montillo

Francesco 'Frank' Montillo

Of Braintree, passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after three weeks of intensive care. He was 63 years old, and probably one of the nicest human beings on this earth.

Born in Montepaone, Italy, he immigrated to the United States at age three and was raised in Waltham by his loving parents Mariangela (Gualtieri) Montillo and the late Agazio Montillo. He attended St. Charles Catholic School and Waltham High School. He later moved to Newton with his family prior to attending college. Frank earned his Bachelor’s and Master's Degrees from Rhode Island School of Design in architecture.

Frank worked as an architect in the Cambridge/Boston area for several years before branching out on his own. He designed many beautiful homes and additions for his clients, as well as renovated his own homes in Brighton, Arlington, and Braintree. Frank spent most of his adult life in Miami, Newport, Brighton, Hawaii, Arlington, and eventually settled in Braintree with his wife.

Frank was an avid golfer and would always jump at the chance to play a round with his friends and cousins. Especially cousin Benny Polagruto. In his younger days he enjoyed caddying, ice hockey, tennis, and even dabbled in Jai alai. He loved watching the New England Patriots on TV. The Golf Channel was a favorite! He played guitar in his high school band and carried his love for classic rock and jazz throughout his life. But most of all, he loved spending time with his adoring wife.

He was the brother of the late Sam Montillo.

Besides his mother, Frank is survived by his loving wife Karen (Prario) Montillo, his devoted sisters Clara Caruso and her husband Anthony of Newton, and Roseanna Baack and her husband Paul of Newton, his nieces and nephews Tony Caruso, Jr. and his wife Tammy, Melissa McNamara and her husband John, Brian Caruso and his wife Sara, Angela Baack, and Christina Vosnak, his Godson Sam Cook, and three great nieces. He was also the brother-in-law of Nancy and Joe Vosnak of Marshfield.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend funeral services at Brasco & Sons Memorial 773 Moody St., Waltham, Thursday, August 2nd at 10:00 am with a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Bernard's Church 1523 Washington St., West Newton at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Blue Hills Cemetery, Braintree. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, August 1st from 4-8 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
