Obituary for Gerard M. Franchi

Of Waltham, passed away peacefully on Sunday July 29th, 2018 surrounded by his loving family and friends in his home after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 52.

Born on May 8,1966 in Newton; beloved son of Carmela (Mancini) Franchi and the late Antonio G. Franchi, Gerard was raised in the Nonantum section of Newton and moved to Waltham 11 years ago. A graduate of Newton Catholic High School, Gerard worked in his brother's construction business "R.A. Franchi Corporation" as a Foreman throughout his life. His love for concrete resonated in his strong work ethic and precise measurements.

Gerard loved and lived life to the fullest; he enjoyed every moment spent with family & friends, especially his 3 daughters. His life revolved around his family. He certainly was a social butterfly always seeking out friends to join he and his wife for a meal on his patio that he had proudly constructed at his home. Gerard was an avid and passionate golfer. In his spare time, he enjoyed making wine and sausages in his mother's home, keeping with his father's traditions. When Gerard had an opportunity to spend quiet time with his wife and girls, he could be found watching General Hospital or the Hallmark channel.

In these past couple years, he demonstrated a strong will and determination to beat cancer. His courage and strength was an inspiration to all who knew and loved him.

Gerard is survived by his loving wife of 11 years Nicole M. (Capello) Franchi, his devoted daughters Elizabeth M. Franchi, Gina C. Franchi and Stephanie A. Franchi all of Waltham, his beloved mother Carmela ( Mancini) Franchi of Newton, his dear siblings Giovanna Franchi of Boston, Robert Franchi and his wife Joanne of Newton, Judy Franchi of Peabody, his loving father-in-law and mother-in-law Frannie and Betty Capello of Newton & Martha's Vineyard, his brother-in-law Jeff Capello and his wife Stephanie of Wayland, and sister-in-law Mary Alice Robinson and her husband Aaron of Martha's Vineyard. In addition, he is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, grand nieces, grand nephews, and many friends who loved him dearly.
