Obituary for Marie G. Leger (Guerrier)

Of Waltham, passed away peacefully late Tuesday night June 26th, 2018 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer in her home at the age of 63.

Born on September 5, 1954 in Leogane, Haiti; daughter of Verilien Guerrier and Andre Rose Louve, Marie immigrated to the United States in 1987. She has been a Waltham resident for the past 30 years.

Marie had been employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant at East Village Emerson Nursing Home in Lexington and most recently at Maristhill Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Waltham.

Two of the most important aspects of Marie's life were her faith and her family; everything revolved around both. She devoted her life to her children and her God. She was an active member of the Waltham Church of God on Moody Street in Waltham. She sang in the choir, cooked meals for church and spent every spare moment of her time volunteering in anyway to help others at the church.

Marie is survived by her devoted & loving children Kettia Guerrier of Waltham, Sandy Leger of Pawtucket, RI, and Clark Leger of Chicago, IL, her cherished granddaughter Maryssa Coulanges, and her dear siblings Joachin Bazile of Montreal, Rose-Laure Guerrier of Montreal, Gerda Guerrier of Montreal, Late Marie Levercia Guerrier of Montreal, Patricia Louve of Montreal, Marie Laurianne Breau of Montreal, Gladys Pascal of Milton, Jeannette Guerrier of Waltham, Yoline Desanges of Milton and Marie Andre Geneus of Waltham. In addition she is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Service in celebration of Marie’s Life at the Waltham Church of God, 633 Moody Street, Waltham on Saturday morning July 7th at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham. Visiting Hours will be held in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Friday July 6th from 4 – 8 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.

In lieu of flowers a scholarship has been established in memory of Marie at Maristhtill Nursing and Rehabilitation, 66 Newton Street, Waltham, MA 02453.
