Obituary for Louis Deschanel Cantave

Of Waltham, passed away peacefully Friday evening April 20th, 2018 surrounded by his loving family in his home after a long illness at the age of 92.

Born on May 4, 1925 in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti; son of the late Sauveur Cantave and Theresina Lamarre, Louis immigrated to the United States in 2002 and resided in Virginia and New York before moving to Waltham in 2005.

Louis proudly served in the Haitian Army and was employed as a Police Officer in Haiti.

He enjoyed working on the farm in Haiti and gardening.

Louis is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years Marie Raymonde Chery, his devoted & loving children Rosemarie Aldoph of New York, Jean Pelix Cantave of New Jersey, the late Huguette Cantave, Margalie Cantave Malary of Waltham, Marie Kettly Cantave of Haiti, Marie Geralde Cantave Corrielus of West Virginia, Jean Harry Bruni of Florida, and Junior Deschanel Chery Cantave of New York, and his dear siblings Luceda Cantave of Waltham and Antonio Exume of Everett and his late twin brother Dieujuste Cantave and his late twin siblings Andrena and Andrea Exume. In addition he is survived by 13 cherished grandchildren, 7 adoring great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Louis Life will be held in Saint Mary's Church, 145 School Street, WALTHAM on Saturday May 5th at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham. Visiting Hours will be held in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Friday May 4th from 5 - 9 p.m.
