Obituary for Barbara LeBlanc (Breton)

Barbara LeBlanc (Breton)
Of South Dennis passed away on March 10, 2018 at the age of 84. Though she lived in South Dennis, home for Barbara was where her family was. For most of her life, that was Waltham, where she was born, where she graduated from Waltham High, where she met her husband, Ed, and raised her three children, Roy, Brian and Laura. They all already miss her terribly, as do their spouses, Ayn, Joyce and Phil. Her three grandchildren, Katie, Kevin and Brett, miss their beloved Grandy.

When Barbara wasn’t feeding, clothing, hugging or otherwise nurturing her family, she was devoting herself to her other passion, quilting. She loved every aspect of it. She got great joy from looking at fabric, feeling fabric, comparing fabric and shopping for more fabric then she could possibly use. If she was reading, there’s a good chance it was a quilting magazine; if TV, a quilting show. Some of her best moments were spent with her Monday morning group at Tumbleweed in West Barnstable, as well as her Wednesday group. She was also a member of Bayberry Quilters of Cape Cod Guild. And the joy she received through her hobby she spread a hundred times over when she would give the gift of her spectacular work. Those will keep her alive for generations to come.

Barbara found many other things in life to bring her a big smile, whether it was a family reunion at Disney, many trips to visit beloved family in Canada, a date with a 2-pound lobster, or a simple glass of wine at the end of the day with Ed, the one person who steadied her world in the fiercest of storms.

Barbara was born on July 2, 1933 in Waltham; daughter of the late Edmund Breton and Mary Lavinia (Balsor) Millar and step-daughter of Louis G. Millar. Barbara was raised on the south side of Waltham and lived for many years in North Waltham before moving to South Dennis 30 years ago. She spent many summers with her family in Nova Scotia. She was a devoted and faithful parishioner of Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted in Waltham.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 64 years, Edward J. LeBlanc; her loving children, Roy LeBlanc and his wife, Ayn (Kearney) LeBlanc of St. Petersburg, FL, Brian LeBlanc and his wife, Joyce (Greene) LeBlanc of Woburn, and Laura LeBlanc and her husband, Philip Nudelman of Los Angeles; her cherished grandchildren, Katelyn LeBlanc and her husband, Richard Klopfenstein of Los Angeles, Kevin LeBlanc of St. Petersburg, FL, and Breton “Brett’’ LeBlanc of Woburn; and her siblings Louis Millar and his wife, Arlene, of Sanford, NC, and Richard Millar, also of Sanford; and sister-in-law Gerry LeBlanc of Venice, FL. In addition, she is survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as cousins in Nova Scotia.

She was the sister of the late Gail Millar Bloomer of West Nyack, NY and sister-in-law of the late Pauline LeBlanc Marchese of Waltham and the late John Alfred LeBlanc of Venice, FL.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services in celebration of Barbara’s life from the Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody St., Waltham, on Friday, March 16 at 10 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 920 Trapelo Road, Waltham at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waltham. Visiting hours will be held in the Funeral Home on Thursday, March 15 from 4-8 p.m. Parking attendants on duty.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston.
