Obituary for John Caissie

John Caissie
Of Quincy formerly of Newton, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning January 2nd, 2018 with his wife by his side at the Seasons Hospice in Milton after a courageous but brief battle with cancer just five days after his 48th birthday.

Born on December 28, 1969 in Newton; beloved son of the late David Caissie and Mary Virginia (Yeagle) Caissie, John was raised in Newton where he lived most of his life until moving to Quincy in 2005.

A graduate of Newton North High School with the Class of 1987, John went onto Wentworth Institute of Technology. He had been self-employed in the Plumbing trades and became a proud member of the UA Local 12 Plumbers & Gasfitters Union almost 20 years ago.

Nothing in this world was more important to John than his loving son and daughter. He cherished every moment spent with them - following Christian to his hockey games and Brianna to gymnastics. His family was his life. John married the love of his life Agnieszka Matusik 11 years ago in Poland. They traveled throughout Europe over the years, and spent a very special 10th anniversary together in Spain.

When John wasn't spending time with family his interests were history and following sports - he was a passionate and diehard Boston sports fan. In 2008 he witnessed the Boston Celtics bring home the championship at the Garden. In February of 2017, he followed the New England Patriots to Texas for the Super Bowl Championship and the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history.

On December 28th, while celebrating his birthday with his family and friends, John received phone calls from some of Boston’s star athletes including Dustin Pedroia, Zedano Chara, Kevin Miller and Raymond Bourque (whom he shares a birthday with).

John is survived by his loving & devoted wife of 11 years Agnieszka "Angie" M. (Matusik) Caissie, his adoring & cherished son and daughter Christian Caissie and Brianna Caissie both of Quincy, his dear siblings Cathy Caissie of Methuen, Carolyn Caissie of Waltham, David Caissie of Boston, Steven Caissie and his wife Julie of Newton, and Kevin Caissie and his wife Keri of Webster, his mother-in-law and father-in-law Izabela and Bogdan Matusik of Poland, his sister-in-law Renata Drezek and her husband Damian of Poland, and his nieces & nephews Scott, Jack and Kaylee Caissie, Emilian and Michalina Drezek. In addition he is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.

Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services in celebration of John’s Life from the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Monday morning Jan. 8th at 9:30 with a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Bernard’s Church, 1523 Washington Street, West Newton at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery in Needham. Visiting Hours will be held in the Funeral Home on Sunday Jan. 7th from 2 – 6 p.m. Parking attendants on duty.

In lieu of flowers donations in John's memory may be made to Mrs. Agnieszka Caissie for the benefit of Christian and Brianna Caissie, c/o Agnieszka Caissie, P.O. Box 692236, Quincy, MA 02269.
