Condolence From: Priscilla Delaney Scanio
Condolence: Dear Marcia, Stacey and Jennifer, I love you! I am deeply sorry for your great loss. No words will ever capture your dad, your husband, my brothers love and kindness. I will share just one personal conservation that I had with him many years ago.. He told me in his wisdom mood. "Life is like the Ocean the tide comes and goes. As we will shall be the salt of the earth. And that's that... Oh, for Heavens sake." You will be in our hearts forever! I love you Micheal and I love your family. Priscilla #7

Condolence From: Justin Scalese (former student)
Condolence: My thoughts and prayers are with the Delaney family this week. He was one of a kind. Im a former student and Mr. D was one of the greatest teachers, mentors, humans and friends I could have asked for in my life. He not only taught us about carpentry (and everything I know in a shop environment), but he also shared wisdom and knowledge that I will carry with me forever. There wasn’t a day that went by that I didn’t learn something new in the shop about woodworking, life, or a random fact or joke he pulled out of thin air. He would look at us stunned like where the heck did he pull that from, then swat the air trying to find another one. I can’t use a table saw without thinking of the times in the shop with this guy and asking myself “am I doing this right mike?” This weekend will be having some “apple juice” for you Mr. D. Rest easy Sir, you will be missed!

Condolence From: Tracy Rogers (former student)
Condolence: My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends, students, co workers and all those whom had the opportunity to know Mr. “D” Being the only girl of my carpentry class I got allot of help to learn the trade inwich I am still today involved in somewhat. Mr. D, his brother Peter and brother in law were individually amazing.i can say without hesitation that each and everyone of my 20 other class mates “loved” him, looked up to him and will be very saddened to hear of this tragic loss. Mr. Taught us all more than the field of Carpentey, he taught us to be men and woman, to achieve our goals, to better ourselves and always made school / learning fun. One of the best choices I made in my life was to attend “The Voc” and I for one am great full to had had the opportunity to have spent 3 years learning from and getting to know Mr. Michael Delaney. RIP

Condolence From: Colin Young (co-worker)
Condolence: This is for you. Marcia, Stacey, Jen, Jeffery and the entire Delaney family. Mike Delany was a wonderful person and a wonderful carpentry teacher. He cared for his students. Not only did he teach carpentry skills, he taught the skills needed to survive in what can be a rough world out there. He brought a sense of community and a sense of comradery to the students in his shop. Students felt “belonged”. Some might be surprised that Mike had a real kind side to him. If he saw anyone down on their luck he would jump in to offer support. He was particularly kind to the elderly. It wasn’t uncommon for Mike to help an elderly person that had a broken chair and no one around to help. If he saw a student whose family was experiencing adversity he’d step in to help. He did this quietly so that no one knew. Over the years Mike had his students work on many community projects that often benefited the city as well as local social agencies. His students would beam at what they accomplished. Plus, his students would work on their own personal projects. Talk about beaming. These students were on top of the peacock nest! And beautiful results followed. If you were a graduating carpentry senior you earned the right to select a tool from his “special” box. These were decent tools, some even electric, Dewalt, Milwaukee! Mike could be full of the devil too! He was notorious for the pranks he pulled on his fellow coworkers. I know firsthand! We’ll skip this section! I know that Mike has found his peace. And when he reflects upon his life he can hold his head up high for all the students that he has affected and influenced. Everyone has a story. Waltham has lost a very important person in the community. I leave this for Mike, “Either you went to the Voc. or you wished you went to the Voc.”

Condolence: Dear Marcia, Stacey, and Jennifer, My deepest sympathies to you all at this time of loss. Michael was one of the favorites of all our cousins, and how we loved to hear his stories at 25 Townsend St., Waltham, MA., at Tillie's and Leo's! I won't be able to attend the funeral, as duty has me elsewhere with the Marists. But I offered my Mass this morning for Michael, for his eternal rest, and for all of you! Love you! Fr. Paul
