Obituary for Giulio Mariani

Of Waltham, passed away peacefully Friday morning October 13th, 2017 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston at the age of 90.

Giulio was born on April 11, 1927 in the town of Ripi, PR. Frosinone, Italy.  He was the son of the late Giuseppe and Santa (Imperioli) Mariani. Giulio immigrated to the United States as a young man in 1951. He spent time in New York and a short period of time in Newton before moving to Waltham and West Yarmouth.

Giulio was a local Builder of many homes and apartments in the Waltham and Arlington area including the first senior citizen apartment complex in Waltham through a collaborative "Turnkey" effort with the city.  He then went on to build some of the first condominiums on Cape Cod in Dennisport and an extensive number of single family homes throughout the Cape Cod region.  He took great pride in his work including his designs, all phases of the construction & building process, right up through the completed project.

Giulio loved spending time in his garden, making his own wine, and nurturing his fruit trees, as well as the Red Sox, Bruins and Patriots. His central focus and greatest joy, however, was spending time with his family.

Married for 71 years to his beloved Gisella, they faced many hardships. Through their hard work, love, and devotion they had a wonderful life while building a strong, loving foundation for their family

Giulio is survived by his beloved wife Gisella (Nicolo), his devoted & loving sons Nicola Mariani and his late wife Mary Lou (Bonica) Mariani and Gilberto Mariani and his wife Adrienne (Zuppe) Mariani all of Newton, his cherished grandchildren Annamaria Frabizio and her husband Bill, Christina Abele and her husband Karl, Juliana Zurawski and her husband Jon, Antonia Mariani, Michael Mariani and his wife Kaitlin, and his adoring great grandchildren William and Gisele Frabizio, Enzo, Lucy and Trescott Abele, Jack Zurawski, Noelle and Julian Mariani. In addition, he is survived by many nieces & nephews in New York, Georgia, Italy and Canada.
