Obituary for Svetlana Levina (Babitskaya)

Of Brighton, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday October 11th, 2017 in her residence at the age of 72. 

Born on May 7, 1945 in Kharkov, Ukraine; daughter of the late Semyon and Maria (Prokofieva) Babitsky, Svetlana immigrated to the United States in June of 1996 to Boston. She resided in Waltham before moving to the Allston-Brighton section of Boston for the past 7 years. 

Svetlana was employed as a Chemical Engineer in Ukraine & Laboratory Technician with the Thermo Fisher Scientific in Waltham and other companies in the United States. 

Her family was the central focus of her life. She cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren. Svetlana was very fashionable and always wanted to look her best. 
In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, all types of flowers, and sewing clothes. She had a special love for dogs as well. 

Svetlana is survived by her devoted & loving children Tetyana Shmukler and her husband Igor of Boxborough and Simon Levin and his wife Olga Ponomareva of Burlington, her cherished grandchildren Anastasia and Pearse McManus of Somerville, and Samuel Shmukler of Boxborough, her dear brother Sergey Babitsky of the Ukraine and her former husband Vladimir Levin.

Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Russian Orthodox Funeral Service in the Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Tuesday morning Oct. 17th at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the Funeral Service from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Interment will be held in Boxborough South Cemetery.
