Jay Coraccio – Memories
Words seem so inadequate at times like this. There are so many memories, so many feelings and too few words to adequately describe them.
Losing Jay is hard for us all to accept because she was loved by all and is the last sibling of my Aunt Lucy Zacame to leave us. Along with the pain and loss, we celebrate her life; the joy, the memories and all the good times we have had.
Sharing our lives together has been a precious gift. Jay was a wonderful person in so many ways. She and her generation will be missed and will be a great loss to the family and the country.
My memories start when I lived in Waltham the first 11 years of my life. I then moved to Pittsburgh. Long lapse of time with little communications during the years never affected the depth of our love and respect for each other. Our times together were filled with fun, laughter and good Italian food. Although we were poor, our Italian families gave us much more important things like love, attention and values that would serve us well as we grew up. Jay was part of that and a very positive influence in my life when I needed it most. Jay and all her siblings showed me though there actions how to love, have a desire to work hard, raise a family and make the sacrifices for the next generation. All of this gave us the opportunity to face life and earn self-esteem. Jay was a tower of strength, courage talent and love. She loved life and she endlessly gave of herself. She was a person who left a positive mark on many people. She was a hero to me and many others.
My hero’s in life are not famous athletes, movie stars, or presidents, but people who truly made a difference in my life; the people who loved and cared for me.
I know also that my sadness of losing Jay will be somewhat lessened in that she will never leave us because she is a part of us all and will live through us forever. God bless her.
