Of Waltham passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning September 19, 2017, surrounded by his loving family in his home at the age of 84.
Born on December 1, 1932 in Waltham; son of the late Anthony and Mary Gertrude (Howarth) Cincotta, Jimmy was a lifelong resident of Waltham.
A graduate of Waltham High School with the Class of 1951. After High School Jimmy proudly served with the United States Army during the Korean War.
He returned from the service to further his education at Northeastern University and Massachusetts Bay Community College achieving his Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
Jimmy was employed with the City of Waltham and appointed to the Waltham Fire Department in 1963. He spent the majority of his career at the Moody Street Fire Station, achieved the rank of Captain and retired after 28 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Waltham.
He was a member of the Professional Fire Firefighters of Massachusetts Association, the Sons of Italy Dante Algheri, Lodge #648 in Waltham, and the Filicudi St. Stephen Society.
Jimmy had a strong faith in his God and had been an active and devoted member of Sacred Heart Parish Community in Waltham for many years. He volunteered and served as a Eucharistic Minister at numerous daily masses and funeral services for over 20 years.
Jimmy dearly missed his beloved wife, Catherine “Rena” (Parello) Cincotta, who predeceased him in October of 2000.
He is survived by his loving children Paul S. Cincotta and his wife Mary of Wayland, Karen M. Cincotta of Westford, Dianne P. Cincotta of Sudbury, James A. Cincotta of Philadelphia, PA, Kathy A. Brawley and her husband Kevin of Wrentham and Mark A. Cincotta and his wife Cynthia of Sudbury, his cherished grandchildren, Alexander J. Cincotta, Andrea L. Cincotta, Andrew P. Manzi, Philip A. T. Manzi, Nicholas J. Manzi, Emily C. Brawley, Jacob C. Brawley, David E. Cincotta and Anna C. Cincotta, and his dear siblings Barbara A. McCarthy of Waltham, Gloria P. Collins of Billerica, Robert P. Cincotta of Billerica, Beverly M. Sullo of Marietta, GA, Rosemary E. Dion of Norwood, and Michael R. Cincotta of San Francisco, CA.
Jimmy is the brother of the late Anthony H., Roland J., Joseph R, B. Kenneth, Leonard E., Dorothy M. Fogg, Wilfred R., Janice G. Demeo, and infants Philip and John.
In addition, he is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and great, great nieces and nephews.
Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services in celebration of Jimmy’s life at Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home, 773 Moody St, Waltham, on Saturday morning, September 23, 2017, 9:00 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham, at 10:00 a.m. Interment with Waltham Fire Department Honors will follow at Mt. Feake Cemetery in Waltham. Visiting Hours will be held in the Funeral Home on Friday September 22, 2017, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Parking attendants on duty.
