Robert Brigham Wheaton, 74, of 55 Waverly Avenue in Watertown, died suddenly on September 4, 2017. He has been reunited with his sister, Jean (Wheaton) Gates, 86, of Concord, New Hampshire and who preceded him in death.
Bob was born on May 22, 1943 in Roslindale, Massachusetts to Chester and Lois (Daniels) Wheaton, the third of three children. An older sibling, Chester Gray Wheaton, Jr. died at childbirth.
He was a 25-year resident of Watertown and a known fixture throughout the community. Bob enjoyed a daily regimen of walking around town and talking to people he met along the way. He was looking forward to returning outside after recent foot surgery and the expectation of corrected eyesight in October. He cherished his independence.
Bob was a lifelong Red Sox fan and realized his dream of working at Fenway Park in the early 1970’s where he was a food vendor and an isle usher. Like the rest of New England, Bob was ecstatic to see the team finally win a World Series in 2004 and subsequent wins in 2007 and 2013.
Bob will be buried on Friday, September 15th, in a private family funeral in the Wheaton family plot located at the Prospect Hill Cemetery in Millis, Massachusetts. Friends of Bob are encouraged to attend a Remembrance Ceremony at 4:00 p.m. on September 15, 2017. The ceremony will be in the community room of the apartment complex at 55 Waverly Avenue in Watertown where Bob lived.
