Obituary for William R. Regan Jr.

William R. Regan Jr.
Of Waltham, peacefully entered eternal rest with his God early on Tuesday morning August 29th, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer; surrounded by his loving family with his wife holding his hand. He was 65 years old.

Born on June 7, 1952 in New Haven, Connecticut; son of the late William R. Regan and Florence M. (Stacey) Regan, Bill came to Massachusetts as a young boy at the age of 10 and resided in Braintree until moving to Waltham after his marriage in 1985. He had been a Waltham resident ever since.

A graduate of Braintree High School, Bill furthered his education at Massasoit Community College. He was employed through the years with College Town Women's Clothing, Greene-Shaw Company, Bell Atlantic and retired from Verizon.

Bill had a strong faith in his God. He was an active and devoted member of the Saint Charles Borromeo Parish Community in Waltham, serving as a Eucharistic Minister for years. It was that faith that sustained him through his illness during this past year.

He enjoyed many things in life; in his younger years hiking and camping, collecting stamps, doing crossword puzzles, listening to music, following NASCAR and was a passionate Boston Red Sox fan. His greatest enjoyment in life came from spending time with his family. Family gatherings or traveling on vacation together were those special times for the entire family. Bill had a great outlook on life and a wonderful sense of humor; probably known best for telling a bad joke every so often.

For years once a month on a Friday at the Olympia Diner in Braintree, Bill would reunite with his former classmates and friends from Braintree High School to laugh and share stories of the past. Something he truly enjoyed doing and being part of was the "Olympia Diner Breakfast Club" even till this past July.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years MaryCarol (Burns) Regan, his devoted & loving children Amy Louise Peck and her husband David of Oxford, William Robert Regan III and his loving companion Taryn of Cambridge, and Scott Regan of Waltham, his cherished grandsons Michael William Peck and Matthew Regan Peck, his dear siblings Pamela Poleo of Beverly and Ronald Regan of Florida, and his devoted brother-in-law Barry Burns and his wife Rosalie. In addition he is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services in celebration of William’s Life from the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Saturday morning Sept. 2nd at 9:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street, Waltham at 10:00 a.m. Committal Service and Ceremonies will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham. Visiting Hours will be held in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons on Friday Sept. 1st from 4 - 8 p.m. Parking attendants on duty.

Flowers are appreciated or expressions of sympathy may be made in Bill’s memory to the Care Dimensions Hospice, 333 Wyman Street, Waltham, MA 02451 or the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
