Of Waltham, passed away Monday August 14th, 2017 at the E.N. Rogers Veterans Memorial Hospital in Bedford at the age of 79.
Born on June 12, 1938 in Boston; son of the late Joseph and Mildred (Kelly) Tehan, Jack was raised in the Allston Brighton section of Boston, and moved to Waltham after his marriage in 1964.
Jack proudly served with the United States Navy.
A graduate of Brighton High School, Jack was employed as a Truck driver throughout his life; working for Canada Dry and the Coca-Cola Corporations. He was a member of the Teamsters Local #25.
Jack loved boating and had a passion for fishing. Since 1994, Jack had been a member of the Watertown Yacht Club and for a brief period of time served on the Board of Directors. In his spare time Jack also enjoyed listening to the police & fire scanners.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years Rose (Foster) Tehan, his loving sons John G. "Jack" Tehan Jr. of Waltham, Joseph Tehan and his wife Kerry of Connecticut, and Robert Tehan and his fiance' Sandra Gaudet of Waltham, his cherished grandchildren Jessica, Joseph, and Shawn all of Waltham, Kelsey and Lindsey of Connecticut, and his dear siblings Joseph Tehan of Billerica, Annmarie Youngclaus of Weymouth, Marilyn Ferlazzo of Waltham and Michael Tehan of South Carolina. In addition he is survived by many nieces & nephews.
Jack was predeceased by his dear brothers the late Thomas and Gerald Tehan.
Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Service in celebration of Jack’s Life in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Saturday morning Aug. 19th at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow with United States Navy Military Honors at Calvary Cemetery Chapel Mausoleum in Waltham. Visiting Hours will be held in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons on Saturday morning Aug. 19th prior to the Funeral Service from 8 – 11 a.m. Parking attendants on duty.
In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in Jack’s memory to the VA Medical Center, c/o Voluntary Services, 200 Springs Road, Bedford, MA 01730 and please note it is for the comfort & relaxation of the residents on unit 62 CD 1X.
