Of Waltham, passed away peacefully early Friday morning July 21, 2017 surrounded by his loving family in his home at the age of 86.
Rene was born on January 5, 1931 in Shediac Island NB Canada. Son of Regina & Frank Fougere. In his younger days he worked in Woods Drake & Merritt Co. as a Crusher Operator, Goose bay. Packers & Swifs Co. in Moncton N.B.
He came to the United States in 1957 and worked at Reece Corporation in Waltham until his retirement. He returned to Canada then came back to Waltham in 1960. Rene worked for School Department as a Custodian in Weston and Needham.
Rene was a member of French American Club for many years where he enjoyed playing cards & pool with his friends. He also enjoyed the boys talking about back home in Canada. The French American Victory Club was his place to talk about back home.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church on Main Street in Waltham till closing then he joined St. Charles Borromeo Church Parish in Waltham.
Rene was married to Geneva Brun Fougere and had 4 children Rheal Fougere and his wife Cathie of Newfoundland, Bernice Fougere of Florida, Daniel Fougere of Rindge, NH and Maureen Fougere of Waltham. Also 3 brothers Clarence, Roger & Ronald Fougere of Canada. In addition he is survived by 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.
Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Rene’s Life at Saint Charles Borromeo Church on Thursday evening July 27th at 6:00 p.m.
