Stephen J.  Marrella
Of Franklin, passed away peacefully Friday June 30th, 2017 at the Mary Ann Morse Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Natick at the age of 95.

Born on April 8, 1922 in Waltham; son of the late Joseph S. Marrella and Josephine (Galluzzo) Marrella, Stephen was raised in Waltham and had been a resident of Newton for over 50 years before moving to Franklin 18 years ago.

A graduate of Waltham High School with the Class of 1941, Stephen furthered his education at the Bentley School of Accounting in Boston.

He proudly served with the United States Army 102nd Infantry Division Band playing the Clarinet. He toured with the band in the European Theater for over 16 months.

Stephen owned and operated "Williams Market" on Trapelo Road in Waltham for over 40 years.

He was a past member of the Waltham Sons of Italy Lodge. In his spare time he was passionate about physical fitness. He enjoyed playing the piano & clarinet, gardening, and following sports.

Beloved husband for 66 years to the late Marion (Salamone) Marrella.

He is survived by his loving & devoted children Joanne McCourt and her husband Don of Franklin and Joseph “Joe” Marrella and his wife Gail of Ashland, his cherished grandchildren Robert McCourt of San Francisco, CA and twins Carlie and Cassie Marrella of Ashland, his dear brother-in-law and sister-in-law Salvatore “Sal” Salamone of Peabody and Madeline “Cookie” Cyr of Maynard. In addition he is survived by many nieces & nephews.

Brother-in-law of the late Sophie Arena, Theresa, Anthony, and Peter Salamone.

Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Service in celebration of Stephen’s Life in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons on Friday morning July 14th at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Newton Cemetery. Visitation will be held in the Mary Catherine Chapel prior to the Funeral Service from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.

In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer's Assoc., 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
