Bruce Winston McKusick
Of Waltham, passed away, Saturday afternoon, June 3, 3017 at the Town and Country Skilled Nursing Home in Lowell. He was 90.
Born and raised in Bangor, Maine to the late George A. and Mary (Urquhart) McKusick, he moved to Waltham over 40 years ago to be closer to his cherished grandchildren.
Bruce served honorably in the United States Navy as a Ship's Cook third class on the USS Repose during World War II. He was a member of the Waltham V.F.W.
He was employed by a paper mill in Bangor, Maine and as a metal worker for Standard Thompson in Waltham before until his retirement in 1988.
In his spare time he enjoyed following the Boston Red Sox, fishing in Maine, and most of all being around his family. He will be remembered by family and friends as a sensitive and honest man.
He was the beloved husband of the late Viola V. (Hunt) McKusick and father-in-law of the late John Campbell.
He is survived by his loving children Gloria Campbell of Pepperell, Bruce W. McKusick, Jr. of Framingham, and Deborah Furlong and her husband Philip of Waltham, his sisters Gloria Burke Cameron of Florida, Sandra Spencer of Maine, and Earl McKusick of Maine, his cherished grandchildren John Campbell and his wife Christine of Billerica, Tonia Carroll and her husband Shawn of Townsend, Christine Furlong of Chelmsford, and Michelle Furlong of Waltham, and his great grandchildren Mikayla, Mia, Brian, Kaitlin, Andrew, Cecelia, and Devyn.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Graveside service at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 1 p.m., where he will be interred along with his wife Viola. The Brasco & Sons Memorial assisted the family with arrangements.
