Of Waltham, passed away early Monday morning, May 29, 2017 at the Life Care Center of Stoneham Nursing Home. She was 94.
Born and raised in Amherst, Nova Scotia, Canada to the late Walter J. and Lena (White) Holmes, she moved to Waltham as a young woman. Dorothy spent some time in Burlington before moving back to Waltham over 10 years ago.
She was employed by the Waltham Hospital for many years as a secretary.
Dorothy lived in" the Mill" for many several years and enjoyed playing cards, BINGO, and just being with her friends from "the Mill". She also loved to travel, visiting York Beach, and listening to Frank Sinatra and Perry Como.
She is survived by her loving son Thomas Lunny of Burlington, her cherished grand children Colleen Plant and her husband Jason of Burlington, Evan Lunny of Lowell, and Debbie Sutton of Spencer, and her great grandchildren Tyler and Ricky.
She was the mother late Kathleen Sutton and her husband the late Richard, and mother-in-law of the late Joanne Lunny.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Service in celebration fo Dorothy's life at the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons, 773 Moody St., WALTHAM, Friday at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitng hours will be held prior to the service from 9 to 10 a.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
