Obituary for Gurudatt Chandorkar
Of Waltham, Guru passed away peacefully Friday April 28th, 2017 surrounded by his closest family & friends in the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston at the age of 47.
He had been bravely fighting a battle against cancer since February last year. He had some ups and downs throughout this past year in the journey of treatments, but all of us, including him, continued to be very hopeful that he could beat it. However, the last three weeks took us all by surprise when his health got the worst of it. He fought and fought and fought to live right until his last breath in the hospital. He has left an irreplaceable hollow in our lives.
Guru was a very wonderful, sensitive, generous and caring son, brother, husband, father, son-in-law, cousin, uncle, friend, neighbor, colleague, student….in short just a wonderful human being and a fine person. Everyone who knew him well just loved him. As his wife, I have also witnessed his many random acts of kindness and generosity for complete strangers walking down the street who needed help.
Guru leaves behind a big circle of friends and family who will miss him dearly. He was a very social person and cherished his time with friends and family. As one of my neighbors said, he was the bright light of any social gathering. Needless to say, he doted on his two sons, Dev (9 years old) and Jai (6 years old), frequently calling them ‘his life’. He was the kindest and wittiest husband. To honor and celebrate an unforgettable life, and to relive some of the most memorable moments with him, we are holding a memorial service tomorrow.
